What we do

Nurturing people and places, naturally

Many of us reached adulthood without knowing how to grow food. We want to close that gap, so come and learn with us.

Growing

Fruit, veg, herbs and flowers

We try our hand at growing everything, and we learn by doing: starting from seed, dividing roots, and trying what grows from a cutting (and what doesn't).

  • No-dig gardening: build rich, living soil from the top down. It's simpler and kinder to the ecosystem.
  • Sharing knowledge: a social sowing circle, encouraging globalised majority to bring seeds from across the world too, so we can try growing them in the changing climate in London, and more!
  • Custom soil mixes for drought-tolerant plants, herbs and roses. We make them up so you don't have to store sacks in a London-sized garden.

Making

Carpentry, sewing and crafts

We're not just a gardening club. Learning to make and mend is part of the same way of life, and it saves money as well as saving things from landfill.

  • Wild carpentry with a local carpenter: planters, benches and things the garden needs.
  • Sustainable sewing: mending, reusing fabric and botanical embroidery.
  • Reuse and repurpose: for example turning broken sensory beads into jewellery.

Children and families

Where curiosity takes root

Children are the heart of why we carry on, and why the Natural Gardeners Club began. Our sessions are about getting stuck in, asking questions and discovering where food comes from. Groups are tailored to different ages.

Nature's Playground runs sessions at the garden, with sowing, sharing the harvest, and arts and crafts. Questions? Send us a message.

Harvest Share Network

Got surplus fruit and veg?

Apples falling to the ground? Courgettes growing faster than you can eat them? We collect surplus produce from the 30+ allotment sites across Waltham Forest and take it to food banks, community centres and families who struggle to afford fresh food.

  • Leave your surplus in a box and we arrange a weekly collection.
  • Harvest Share Heroes meet us at their allotment gate once a week.
  • Already linked to a food bank? Help us weigh what's saved from the compost heap.
